COVID-19 and Congress Postponement to 2021

To access the on-site Congress, you must present a valid health pass.

The French authorities require the presentation of a health pass to access the event in Rennes, which consists of the digital or paper presentation of one of the following three proofs:

- Vaccination, provided that people have a complete vaccination schedule, i.e. :
7 days after the 2nd injection for double injection vaccines (Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca) ;
4 weeks after the injection for single injection vaccines (Johnson & Johnson);
7 days after injection for vaccines in people with a history of Covid (single injection).

- Proof of a negative test less than 72 hours old (or 48 hours for antigenic tests for travel to certain destinations, such as Corsica, overseas territories and the European Union) for access to the major events concerned and a maximum of 72 hours for health checks at borders, or a supervised self-test which generates proof as soon as the result is entered by the health professional in SI-DEP

- The result of a positive RT-PCR or antigenic test attesting to the recovery of the Covid-19, dating back at least 11 days and less than 6 months.

Without a valid health pass, the participant will not be admitted to the event even if he/she presents an entry ticket. The verification of the conformity of the certificate does not allow access to or storage of the participants' medical data.

Pre-conferences will take place on September 6 and 7, 2021. The World Congress will take place from September 8 to 10, 2021.

At this stage we cannot share more details about the program as we are in the process of contacting every individual who has submitted a contribution for the OWC 2020 to confirm their availability to join us in 2021. From this first assessment we will then be able to start putting the program together again. All updates will be published on this website as they become available.

To ensure that the GA remains a lively, inclusive, democratic event, the IFOAM - Organics International World Board decided to hold the event virtually. It will take place on Zoom on September 13-14, 2021.

Members will be regularly updated via email on how to prepare for the virtual event and the steps to follow. You can also consult the GA2021 page for all the latest developments.

Health safety is a top priority for the congress organisers. To ensure maximum safety for all participants, the health protocol measures for professional events published by the French government will be carefully followed.

You can find the current measures here. We will update this page as the French health and safety measures evolve.

For travel to/from France, we advise you to regularly refer to the official website of your country’s embassy or the French government website.

Tickets, Registration and the Congress

The classification of countries into High-Income Economies and Lower-Income Economies reflects the official classification by OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development). Regular ticket prices apply to High-Income Economies while participants from Lower-Income Economies—meaning all economies not classified as ‘High Income’—have a reduced ticket price.

We’ll soon be in touch with more information about the OWC2021 digital experience and how you’ll be able to interact with our speakers and sessions.

Here’s how it currently works: Once you’ve registered for the congress and paid your registration fee, you will receive your confirmation by email. A few days before the event, you will receive your access codes to the OWC2021 virtual platform.

The platform will allow you to follow some sessions live and others in replay; to exchange live with the speakers at the end of each session; and to chat with other participants and the Congress partners. You will be able to visit the pages of our partners and access the e-posters supplied by contributors.

After the congress, you’ll be able to access the replay of the sessions for 3 months.

You must purchase a 3 Day Virtual Package in order to opt into the on-site option. In addition to the benefits included in the 3 Day Virtual Package, the add-on option of attending the conference in Rennes, France, includes:

  • Entrance pass to OWC venue (Couvent des Jacobins, Rennes, France)
  • Access to the full OWC digital platform and content
  • Access to on-site opening & closing ceremonies
  • Access to on-site plenary sessions
  • Access to on-site Platinum sponsor symposium
  • Access to on-site forum sessions
  • Face-to-face networking opportunities
  • Lunches (8-10 Sep.) and coffee breaks

The official OWC2021 language is English. There will be opportunities for translation into French and Spanish.

We’ve done our best to scatter sessions over the Congress duration so that different time zones may join live at some point.

If you’re unable to attend live, no worries: all sessions will be available to watch in replay.

The platform chosen by the Organising Committee will allow you to network and communicate with other participants and partners of the Organic World Congress in real time. Stay tuned: we’ll soon be able to provide more information on how you can make the most of the platform!

You will have the possibility to request an invitation letter through the registration process.

A customized invitation letter for visa purposes is only available for delegates with a confirmed registration that has been paid in full. The letter is intended to help delegates raise travel funds or obtain a visa but does not imply the OWC 2021 organizers will provide financial support.

In case of a visa request rejection, the OWC 2021 organizers will refund the full registration fee only upon receipt of the official refusal document from the Embassy. You can claim for a refund until the 20th of September 2021. After this date, no refund will be possible.

Please visit the website of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs for further information concerning the documents required to obtain a visa.

We urge all delegates to keep in mind that a visa application may take some time to be processed and should, therefore, be initiated early enough to ensure it is accepted before the Congress begins. We invite you to check with your local embassy regarding what sort of documents are necessary, as this may differ between delegates from the same country.

Carbon-offsetting and compensation of the environmental impact apply to cover the impact of the digital event. Production, use, and data transfer of digital devices, network energy consumption, data centers, and servers/routers cause CO₂ emissions. Funds will be entirely dedicated to carbon offsetting projects chosen by the co-organisers.

Speakers and Submissions

If you have received a confirmation that your paper/contribution has been accepted for the OWC 2020, your submission is still valid for 2021. You have been asked whether you wish to keep your paper, withdraw it or update it. If you have any questions about this, please contact papers@owc2020.bio

You will soon receive all the guidelines and instructions concerning your presentation. All contributors will be invited to pre-register their presentations on our online tool. Assistance will be provided for participants who need support and guidance.

We remind you that in order for the presentation to be accepted and scheduled, your registration must be paid and cleared.
